Technically speaking, the TEE is just the hardware fortress (exceptions exist like TrustZone) whilst a Content Decryption Module (CDM) like Google’s Widevine, Apple’s FairPlay, and Microsoft’s PlayReady use the TEE to ensure cryptographic keys and decrypted media buffers are never exposed to the host operating system let alone the user’s browser. I’m still in the process of testing the board, and working with Naya’s co-founder to get the modules customized to my liking. At $500 to $700, it’s not cheap. It’s also a still very new device from a small company, so I’m waiting to give it a proper assessment until the board is fully set up properly.
